Numbers Don't Lie

Yesterday I took the plunge and participated in the BOD POD test. As promised the entire test was over and my print out was in hand within about 10 minutes from start to finish. Easy enough. The nice gentleman was very careful with his words as he explained what each set of numbers meant. I was so focused on the paper that his words went right in one ear and out of the other. I was NOT happy. My body fat% was…well…awful.

Yes I know it is just a piece of paper. Yes I also know that I am not an elite athlete. What I do know is that I will figure out how to bring it all back into balance without going overboard and being consumed by it all.

So this brings me back to what I already know. Eating Mexican food 2-3 times a week over this past month was probably not the smartest choice. Poor Scott…he so loved my new found craving:). After a short discussion and reminder of a few things from coach I had no problem sticking to the prescribed workouts as she had given them. That means sticking with the heart rate zones for that day’s workout AND clean up some of the extra junk that I have been consuming.

With the afternoon storms rolling through I set my bike up on the trainer and rode in the garage for an hour. HOT but I hit the target HR just fine. This morning I was running at 5am and hit the target HR zone again. Not as easy but with more practice I will get this down. The run was amazing and I felt as if I could have kept running and running and well you get it.

I do all of this because I can….because I want to. I do all of this because one day I will no longer be able to….. today is not that day! (quote taken from a earlier blog I read and LOVED it)

That's Frayed Laces quote, right? Love it!

Hey, sometimes we need a little wake up call. You are clearly in great shape, but we can all work on things.

Awesome job on your HR training.

Eating right is tough. But don't get too stuck on a number. By all appearances you're in great shape!

Love that quote too.... and it really has a lot of meaning. I was able, then wasn't, now today I can, love it, and want to :).

Interesting about the bod pod, I think those are supposed to be one of the most accurate ways of testing right?

The numbers can serve as motivation, but don't focus on it, you look great, and a strong!

It's hard to find that balance between love of food and love of lots of food.

Exactly, we are not elite athletes...it is still a hobby and we gotta do what makes us happy. I personally have phases..on off a meal plan. It's ok..I need it that way.

Love that quote! I would have never thought you would have a "problem" with bodyfat. I would take that with a grain of salt, but like Marlene said maybe it's a little wake-up call to make minor adjustments! I know I have more than a few minor adjustments to make myself...

Eerily sounds like Lord of the Rings but it is not this day :-)

I am 20 lbs overweight. No ands or butts (lol) about it... I have a new determination to eat clean and become a better person.

Let's hold hands and sing :-)

So cut the junk, treat yourself and Scott to Mexi once in awhile and carry on with your fantastic workouts. Girl, you are an inspiration!!!

At "our age", "we do do all of this because I can….because I want to. I do all of this because one day I will no longer be able to….. today is not that day!" Just as Frayed Laces always quotes....

be thankful we can!!!
