Snow In the Air

I know there are plenty of you that have this beautiful white snow during the winter but not here in South Carolina.... until right now.  It is coming down lightly and will continue for hours. How wonderful!  Something about it just floods me with childhood memories of frozen hands and hills of sledding.  I miss those days!!

So even though I had a scheduled workout tonight I chose to skip it and stay indoors with my family.  Made some hot soup and corn bread...yummmmm.  Now I am in my nice warm pj's and ready for some down time.

Tomorrow I will tackle a 10 miler, likely on the treadmill and then some weights.  Sad to have missed yoga.  This was hard but there will be plenty more classes and it is only one night.

BTW.. trying something new this year.  it is called a RACE BUDGET.  Actually I tried this last year but this year I plan to follow it.  It amazed me last year what I ended up spending.  I estimated race cost, gas, hotel, food , and shoes.  Will not the number perfectly but will try to come close.  So as scheduled in my budget this month I spent my first budget monies on a new pair of road shoes.
Man 300 miles go by fast!  Happy feet once again.  Trail shoes will be replaced in about 4 to 5 weeks.  Wish me luck with the plan.  Money tree did not make it all year last year so now I have a new plan.... thanks to my husband.

We got some nice snow. Stuck to everything but the road. That's the best kind. I need a budget and some new shoes too :-)

LOL, I don't even want to know how fast you go through shoes being an ultra runner. In fact haven't you been through 2 pairs since I started reading the blog?!?

Ooooooo what kind of Nikes are those? They look pretty!

It's snowing right now here in the VA. Too bad I have x-training tonight. I would TOTALLY love to run in this.

I hear ya about getting & sticking to a race budget. It'll be almost a year that I have been running & I started one this year. Hopefully I can stick to it since past several months consisted of "start-up" costs(buying a lot for the first time, not sure what & how much to spend due to not knowing if this running fever would stick. Why can't we have unlimited funds for racing?..;-)

Ugh, now that I have the "race bug" I am thinking I need to figure out some kind of budget too. It almost makes me feel sick just to say it :X

Hmm, a race budget at the beginning of the year? Well I guess that makes sense than doing the budget at the end. LOL

Mendy probably thought I was a goon last night. I was way more excited than Grace about the snow. I wish it would have dumped a foot of snow, though. I'd be out there right now.

Ohh lucky you and your snowy night... with homemade soup and cozy pjs too?! Yup. Lucky girl!

We so loved the snow coming down last night. Grace was sweet watching it! and David is right - He was looking out the window all night. Too bad, I had to work today though... bummer it wasn't worse than it was supposed to be.

Race budget? What's that again? I'd hate to see how much I am going to spend this year. Oh well.

Nice looking kicks.

Cool, you finally got snow.. Hopefully it did not come with frigid weather. It is a great thing watching it come down.

Race budget, scary thing to look at.. To many zeros.. But at least Ultra's are cheaper than triathlons and some road running races.

sometimes it is so nice to skip a run and just relax. sounds like you had a nice night - does your snow melt as fast as ours does? i just want it to dump about a foot & stick around for a while!!!

Good luck with the snow. Some of my most peaceful runs have been through the snow. Of course it's always nice to know it will soon melt away. Have a great year.

Race budgets seem to be the hardest to manage and justify sometimes. Especially when some around you seem to have endless supplies of race and "stuff" funds.

Good luck. I'm right there with you!!

Looks like snow again today. (or so they say anyway)

I ran something like 20 races last year at a cost of probaly around $400-500. Beats the heck out of the $1500+ I used to spend on cigarettes.
