Stupid Girl

That is me. Stupid Girl.

I had something funky bad going on with my stomach on Saturday so the trail run or even road run was out. On Sunday morning I was running at 6:15am. Morning runs have such a peace about them. The birds even sound happier before all of the traffic and hustle/bustle off the day begins.

About 9 miles into the run my stomach started cramping...again. It never felt that great to begin with but the further I went the worse it became. Still the rest of my body felt great so I continued to push on. I kept telling myself that training for MMTR would be hard so deal with it and keep running. At mile 10 I received the final warning(aka gas) and I knew a bathroom would have to be found immediately! At best I was a mile from the house and began to walk. This helped at first but within seconds I am in panic zone and scouting out a “place” to go. Thank God for the woods and the toilet paper I stuffed in my fuel belt at the last minute that morning. One day I am going to get a nice case of poison ivy. How leaves... three...four... I should probally know this.

The STUPID part comes once I arrive home. I take out my fuel bottles and realize that at best I only had 6 oz. of water for my entire long run. Very stupid! Dehydrated… sure. After the fainting spell from last year you would think that I would have learned the huge importance of taking in the proper fluids. I was so focused on my stomach issues that I quickly forgot about hydrating myself.

Lesson learned…. I promise!

Robin

Side note: Picture of tattoo on next post. Rock On!!!

The Bear Club is a wonderful part of the running community :-) Seriously, chica! Nutrition is the fourth discipline in triathlon. I would imagine it ranks up there pretty important in Ultras. Figure it out!!

Yikes chica!! You know, I'm TOTALLY going to have to adopt that little trick. The TP in the belt. With my luck I'm sure I'll be there soon :-/ LOL

Leaves: three!

Ditch the Fuel Belt and pick up the handhelds, a 30oz bottle in each hand is gonna do nothing BUT remind you to drink!

The improtant thing is that you learned from this experience. And also that you remembered to bring toilet paper with you beforehand!
