One Inch Bangs and Race Budgets

Here is how it all began.....

Robin says: I need new road shoes, a haircut, and my eyebrows waxed.
Scott says: You need to pick one. Do you need road shoes or the haircut first?

At this point I head up stairs, look in the mirror and proceed to cut my bangs. You guessed it... I SCREWED them up and now they are about an inch long. I head back down stairs to show Scott...

Robin says: I need shoes worse. How does my hair look?
Scott says: Robin we have the money for both. You did not need to cut your own hair.

At this point I am thinking... WHAT THE FREAK ARE YOU SAYING!! I JUST HACKED MY HAIR FOR ROAD SHOES AND WE HAD THE MONEY FOR BOTH?!!!!!?!!!!

Since I have had no sponsor offers knocking down my door to pay for events, shoes, travel etc. ect. I was forced to sit down with Scott and come up with a plan. If Scott were telling this story he would point out that I am a pro at avoiding any conversations that have to do with terms like, spending, savings, 401k and so on. My planning for 2009 is complete. Now how do I pay for it?

Next year will be new adventures in the Tri World. More on that once registration is complete(Dec.1st) along with a few charity bike events. I would also like to through a night trail event in the mix. Should be an amazing year.

Robin

OMG! Sorry about the bangs, but at least they'll grow back! Buying new shoes will feel better though! Enjoy! Looking forward to hearing your 2009 plans too! :)

LOL too funny!

My wife asks me to trim her bangs from time to time, I'd sooner get a rabies shot!

I think you should wax Scott's eyebrows as retribution!

Things work like that in our house... hubby is the budget man so he is always trying to figure out we are going to pay for all of these races and the travel, etc. that go along with it.

You really had me laughing with this one!!!

My husband is also the numbers guy in the house. We have very similar conversations!

I haven't had 1-inch bangs, but have had some pretty interesting results with haircolor - like the time I tried henna for about $4 instead of the $150 salon color.

LOL... at least hair grows back right?!?

these races DO get expensive! so many i want to do, but they really add up! cant wait to see what you have planned for 2009 :)

I won't laugh, I promise.

Let's see...

Scott + comment = hacked bangs

Hacked bangs + comment reversal = Scott sleeping on the couch

I'm an accountant and the math never lies.

Haircut and eyebrow waxing is what I am in great need of! Actually, I need more than a cut, a good chop will do.

And, stop taking all my sleep! Glad to hear someone is getting a good nights rest. I am looking forward to sleeping in, well until 7 anyway!

Way too funny to be reading this at 5:30AM.
I recently started shaving my head to cut costs so I can have other things: Bike, shoes, race fees, etc... That's 40.00 that could go to something else.

I'm getting adventurous in my 2009 planning as well. Stay tuned!

Hey Robin. It was great to catch up with you yesterday. You have some SWEET plans for next season! ;-) (shhh, I won't tell)

The girls and I may stop by today to deliver your gift.

I have some clippers you can borrow if you want to go for a "brand new look" ;-)

Ha, I cut my bangs all the time and if my husband notices, it's because I cut them too short!!

Anyway, glad you'll be getting new shoes. Look forward to your entry into the wonderful world of tris :-)

I knew I had it easy. Every Sunday I take out the electric clippers and run them over my balding head ... avoiding hair-cuts provides the necessary cash for shoes ... I think you could pull it off, but you might want check with Scott first. Perhaps if you threaten to cut it all off, there'd be even more cash available to feed your passion :)

You crack me up.

How's the couch working out for Scott?

Well at least you know the hair will grow back and Scott will have the ability to manage the money so you can do the races you want. But, sounds like you may want to skip a race to save money for the hair dew in the future. LOL

Eeee-yikes! OMG... I have so been there with the "personal chop". So sorry that you're going through that. No girl deserves 1" bangs!

Despite the fact that you suffered a personal tragedy in this post... it is quite an amuzing read at 7AM. :o)

Equipment over personal needs. Yup your an athlete all right..

Look forward to see what you have planned in the TRI world. I think it is a good combination. Trails and Tri's, keeps me from getting burned out on either one.
