Road Trip

Our son finished another phase in his training and we had the opportunity to see him for a brief visit before he departed on chartered bus.  He is bound for Pensacola, Fl for a few months and then who knows from there.  I miss him but I am far prouder of the man he has become and the Marine he is!!  Now I just need to figure out how and when our next trip to see him will be. You know I am planning!!!

Recovery has gone great.  I ran on Saturday and Sunday.  Both were not real long runs and I tried to maintain an easy pace.  Being patient is not always easy and if my legs had been on board I would have picked the pace up and ran much faster.  Still I was happy to just be outside enjoying the weather.

Next week I will resume and pick up in training where Scott is for the upcoming Disney Marathon.   One thing I do know is that it SUCKS having to be more "aware" of the calories intake now.  I have to keep reminding myself that I am not running 50 plus mile weeks and can not just eat whatever I want.  Total Suckage!!

i am already dreading the "being aware of calories" since this is my last 50 mile week... its definitely one of the perks :)

So nice that you got to spend time with your son.

You are back to running already? I'm impressed! I would have been curled up in PJ's in front of the TV!

I love the family pic, and I {heart} the Marine!! You still got time to eat what ever you want. Your metabolism hasn't shifted, yet :-)

Great that you got to see him off on another page in life. Definitely something to be proud of.

Calories.......
In my humble opinion, you should resume the calorie intake, or possibly increase the calories.
Don't let that silly weight loss challenge get in your way. : )

You've got a lot to be proud of! and congratulations on your MMTR finish. I'm totally blown-away by what you are able to do. I tell everyone that you are the strongest runner I know and this accomplishment just goes to prove I'm right.

I love a man in uniform! BTW, I know what you mean about not eating whatever you want. It totally pulls-air!

Hope you will be able to plan another trip to see his son soon. Please let him know that he and his fellow marines are much appreciated.

It's like the body has adapted to the running and just a few days without it makes the weight jump. At least for me;-)

Glad you had a nice time with your son.

You're crazy! - thinking about what you eat is part of training. In my book that means not training = not worrying about what I eat. A rest period should be 'stress and worry free'. I mean, it's not like it won't melt off rapidly when you pick up the mileage and pace again. So - suck it up and have that chocolate shake! If not for yourself, do it for me ;-)

It does such not being able to eat whatever you want. But make sure you honor your recovery and don't up the mileage too soon. You'll be back knocking out 50 mile weeks soon enough and can attack the fridge again. ;-)

OMGosh I'm just realizing how tall he is! Dang! Awwwhhh that's wonderful that you got to see him Robin. Secretly I'll probably cry (outside I'll be jumping up and down) when the mini peeps leave the nest.

I came over from Marcys blog.

How is the ultra scene on the East Coast? I plan on getting over for JFK 50 one of these years but I am sure there are plenty of other more technical races out there.
