Lesson Learned

First I will say that I did something STUPID. Now that I have that out of the way I will share why…

With nothing but rain this weekend I was forced to run in it on Sunday. I had a scheduled 10 – 13 mile run so as I was dressing I made a quick change in shoes. This was the stupid part. Not wanting to get my “good pair” dirty I ran in an older “retired pair” and as a result I have a mild case of shin splints today. I KNOW BETTER THAN THIS.

So I will not be running today and will cycle tomorrow. Add some icing and I promise to never wear those shoes again. :)

As for the run itself… AMAZING!! The rain was not near as cold as the day before and the miles went by effortlessly. Average pace was 9:02 and when I arrived back in my neighborhood I felt as if I had several more miles left in the tank.

On to another week. Lesson learned!!

Running shoes dry pretty quickly, no? That's why I take mine out in the back yard and hose them down when they get dirty :-)

LMAO that sounds like something I'd do. I'm sorry chica! :-(

oh no.... sounds like something i'd do too... sorry about the shins... hope they feel better soon!

Never fear getting new running shoes dirty. Running shoes WANT to get dirty, just like their owners. That's the best part, right? ;-)

Well as long as you learned your lesson I won't have to slap you on the wrist... or beat you in the head with a worn out shoe. ;)

P.S. I hope the shins are feeling better FAST!

Oh yes, a familiar lesson unfortunately for me too, except it's my arches that will usually bother me. Hope your shins feel better fast!

Yeah, you would think you KNOW, but then you do it again and again...I just pulled my groin and I would think it happened the day I ran in my old shoes. I hope I got it now;-)

I've done that before, no worries. Lesson learned. LOL...

I think the same way! Ice those shins.

Sorry to hear about the shins. Hoping your back on the trails soon. Hoping my ankle feels good enough to try and get a run in tomorrow afternoon, if I can get to Chattanooga before meeting co-workers for dinner.

Oops! The things you learn from experience. Sounds like your training has been going well

Great run!

Sorry to hear about the shin. Looks like you are doing what you can to remedy it. Hope it feels better.

I've done that! It's so tempting to just wear an old pair, but bad idea for a longer run like that. Hope your shins forgive you quickly! (great run, btw!)
