I Made IT...

168 days

28 weeks

5 ½ months

What could I be talking about? That is the total number of days, weeks, and months since my last registered event!!!

I am not counting the YMCA cycle ride (only made 45 miles of the 62 mile course) I had issues :).......
AND I am not counting the Marquis de Sade Ride ( made 35 miles of the 82 mile, 6000 foot climb) Freakishly out of my ability!

This Saturday marks the first event ride (and my longest ride to date) (that was for you Marci :)) for me this year.
Course Info:
80 miles of rolling hills with a total elevation change of just over 5300 feet.

The best part is that I have two more Cycle events following this one so for the next 3 Saturdays I am going to get my feel of goodie bags and food…lots of food.

After doing some math last night I realized that I have been averaging 120 to 160 plus miles on the bike each week for the last month. I am stocked about this. Normally I would chart every mile keeping a running tally of road miles but I haven’t. I am having too much fun to stop and add it all up. Until yesterday, while riding with a friend, we began to do the math and realized the impact of riding together. I may not be getting speedy fast on the bike but I have always been more into the endurance part of sports anyway (another reason why I took to ultra running). My overall average is anywhere between 16 – 17 mph so for now I am pleased with that.

So with this event in two days I will do a short run tonight and an easy round of weights. Friday I will take off (never seems to be hard) and SATURDAY I WILL RIDE. :)

Robin,
Good luck tomorrow. Hope I gave you some useful tips for speed and endurance you can use in the future. For tomorrow, just pace yourself and go real easy the first half of the ride.
