Will You Still Love Me?

If this Gotta Run girl takes on a new name... a new love will you still love me?

These days I seem to reach more for my cycle shoes and not as much for my running shoes. I really did not see it happening until it did. These days I dream more about riding than running. There has not been one dreaded moment. Not one that I regret over riding rather than running. Still I do have runs that I cherish. I lace my shoes up and allow my feet to take me on a journey, winding through neighborhoods, past beautiful country roads. The feeling is very different and embraced as a blessing. I have not lost sight of that love.

So I allow my love of fitness to take me into new direction where my body is challenged in new ways. It feels exciting, comfortable, and thrilling. For what I thought would be this year... Beach 2 Battleship Iron, appears to not be the plan at all. Rather than be consumed by the change in plans I embrace it and know that whatever I do will leave me feeling grateful, blessed, and alive.

Hey-- I think it's wonderful that you've found another way to have a good time while keeping healthy! My assumption is people will only be mad if you stop blogging about your progress :) I know I would be disapointed.

I think the new name sounds cool! You gotta do what you gotta do, even if that means you gotta run less. Keep on having fun!

Me too! My coach seems to think it's more important for me to be riding than running. And the "dirty little secret" is that I don't mind at all, esp. since it also means more quality time with family.

I'll miss you at B2B, though!!

I'm so happy for you and your new passion. I've always wondered how some people can run and run forever:-)You know that I had my turning point once and I am still in conflict btw. lifting weights and running. It must feel good to have accepted your new feelings and completely go for it. I will still read your posts...cycling or running; doesn't matter.

Love it! I cannot wait to get my bike back from being serviced tomorrow, and being back out on the road... Enjoy!

Ahhhhhh, my work here is done! ROTFLMFAO

What is it we tell our kids? Make new friends, but keep the old? Happy you found a new love. It can only get better.

Of course I will still love you. But that won't stop me from trying to reel you back to running. ;-)

I can totally relate!

Good for you - just do what you want.... and don't look back. One day you might get sick of the bike and think your runners look pretty good. Whatever it is I'll be reading :)

We will always love you!

Bikes are just a phase that runners go through. It's good cross training and you get to dress up in all that colorful spandex! I've got a composite Softride and a Klien hanging in my garage. I use them as dust collectors so as to keep the dust from settling on our car.

Sometimes I think about pumping up the tires and heading out for a ride but that would just displace all that dust I've been collecting.

Have fun with both activites. Just let us know when you start swimming and decide to do an Ironman!

I seem to remember making a comment about trying cycling and swimming some time back........looks as if it has infiltrated nicely. Swimming may be more difficult in your climate with cold winters. I have had to have time out recently due to some minor skin cancer surgery......but I sure miss my swimming and cycling.

I'm with Marlene. There is no reason you can't do what you love to do. Maybe next, I'll have you trading in you cycling shoes for a pair of Rogue Weight Lifting Shoes for CrossFit.
