Say What...

So be careful what you say….especially to your coach.

After almost 2 years I began swimming again last week (3 Tri's are on the horizon):

First swim= 1000 meters (I am pretty pleased)

Second swim= 1600 meters (I am very pleased)

I then call coach and tell her how great the swim felt. It felt like I could have just swam forever. Note: that I was not swimming at a blistering pace.

Then on Sunday the next 3 weeks of schedules arrive. I open the email and take a quick glance. I am definitely in a build phase. Then I take a look at the swim workouts in detail…. holy smokes. This should teach me to keep my mouth shut if I know what it good for me. LOL!!!! Still, I asked for this and I will gladly do what is needed to reach my own personal goals I have set for myself this year.

Over this past weekend Scott and I traveled to see our son and his wife for the weekend. It was a wonderful weekend!!! Saturday morning I tried to guilt him into running with me but he did not break and so I headed out for a 6 mile run close by his house. Flat, not too fast, and was thankfully finished before everyone was getting showers for the day.

Sunday was really hard…emotionally. Our son, who currently serves in the Marine Corp., is deploying for what could be a year. Heading to Japan, Spain, and Korea. I will just leave it at that.

Make the most of today and get moving people!! :)

I'm lazy as a slug in this oppressive humidity, but now you've gone and inspired me, so I guess I'll be out there sweating tonight.

The Corps is such an excellent organization these days he should be in very good company. What protects you in the military are the guys around you. It's the reason my cousin's DI pushed him into the Special Forces. 25 yrs, no issues.

You must be very proud - even if a little torn. Way to rock the swim Robin!

Deployments are tough. But he'll see some of the world and come back a better man.

Well, at least he's not being deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. Safe travels to him and happy swimming to you!

When it comes to training, I think we all are secretly aware of what we are capable of doing, but just need to be told how hard to push ourselves!
