BADWATER

Where does a person begin of thinking that one day they will run 135 miles in a sauna of heat in the middle of the desert? Somewhere a dream began and it grew until they could not listen to the whispers and screams deep within their our soul any longer. Yes it is crazy but even this girl has a whisper that speaks to her. One day..... maybe just maybe I will attempt the toughest foot race ever!!!

I am having a great week. My mind is back on track and I love where I am at. Getting stronger and reaching new goals..one run at a time!!

Dream on.......

yes, a whiper it is now. It is still far away and I can only hear it softly, but I know it's traveling slowly closer and one day it will yell in my ears!!!

Oh yes, there is quite a pull to that race. If you ever get in, let me know, I'll crew for you.

While I think doing an Ironman is entirely reasonable :-) I think running 50+ miles is just crazzzy! LOL. But I never underestimate the power of the mind....

Bart Yasso spoke of Badwater at the Lehigh Valley Half Marathon during the pasta dinner. The food wasn't great, but the speakers were excellente. He said that he had finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd for that race.

Bart orginally came in second at the original intended finish line after a guy who had crossed the same finish line after clipping off about 20 miles of the course ... on skiis. The dude literally had skii poles strapped to his back. So he had claim to first place finisher ... who completed the entire intended course.

Later on, the race director found out that they weren't allowed up in the area of the mountain where the finish was originally set up ... so Bart then found out that he was the third one to cross the retroactive finish line.

That and his donkey race were two of the most memorable stories he had to share.

Maybe you'll run with a guy with a set of skiis strapped to his back ...

LMAO it's so funny that you bring this up because I'm (yes, I'm probably the LAST person in here to have read Dean Karnazes book :P) right at the Badwater section of "Ultramarathon Man" and OMFG that is just nuts. 50 miles, Ok cool. I'm with you. 135 miles in the desert . . .you lost me LOL

I think you are all nuts! I can't hear anything :P I'm with Java and Chad - would love to crew for you!

Count me in on the crew, Robin! I'd do it for you in a heartbeat, but that's nuts, commendable, but NUTS.

You'll do it... one day, I'm sure.

Very inspiring though! It's amazing what some people will do.

Okay, didn't we invent cars a while back? 135 miles on foot is just nuts. That would be a long bicycle ride, nevermind run. If you do it, Mendy and I will drive the beer cart for you. :-)

It's good dream to have and one that can be realized. If it is really what you want than just be confident and go and get it.
