My Thumbs are Sore

So it seem that once again my quads are the culprit for the knee pain. I have been kneading my quads just as Bob recommended a few times a day. It amazes me how a massage therapist can do this all day long when only after a few minutes I feel like whining. I can however, feel some trigger points that could be the cause of my problem. Should have my Tiger Tail within the next few days. I will continue to stretch is be smart with my workouts and mileage. Keeping focused on the big goal...50 miles... yikes!

I ended up taking Sunday as a rest day. Thought it would be a good idea. Yesterday I tackled the elliptical for a 70 minute session. Awesome! Today I ran my scheduled 4 miles on the treadmill. My goal is to find some love for this piece of machine since it is SO mother hot outside. It is just too much. Heat index was 106 degrees today. Goodness!! That does not even account for the humidity!!

One thing I have realized(again) is that I never appreciate the running so much until it is threatened. Now all I want is to run. Good feelings all around.

Stay cool my friends!

Robin

Tell me about it, sista! I did a 3.3 mile run in the heat at 6:30 PM and I was going to die!!! Keeping my fingers crossed for the Trigger Point Scandal. Bob is a good kid. Listen to him :-)

The treadmill sucks. But it is so convenient. For the first year, I did all my week-day runs on the treadmill. I am not sure anymore how I could stand it.

The Doc told me to roll my legs twice a day and so I have and have had minor if any leg soreness or issues...friggin bread roller thingy works great:-)

I'm learning to love (or at least like) the treadmill. I found that if I wear my running hat and try to keep the bill pointed at the same spot on the wall, I can actually work on my runnin form while lulling myself in a zen-like condition. I can't do that outside where the horizon is always changing.

i avoid the treadmill at all costs. cannot believe you did it for 70 minutes! you rock! hope that Tiger Tail thing helps - had never heard of it till i clicked on your link. i'm a fan of the Stick - although i almost died when i paid for it ... so spendy i thought it should have batteries or something ... and roll itself. good attitude on the injury set back ... i think its' key. i had my bad moments of sheer frustration - but in general - as long as you keep moving somehow, i think it improves the whole comeback!

Holy 70 minutes!!!! That is a LONG TIME! LOL That tiger tail does look cool, but I am liking the idea of just using a rolling pin :P Suppose I am just cheap that way (or lazy ;))

70 min is sooo long. I'd be so bored!! I did 30 min yesterday, and was ready to get off. I probably do need to up it a bit, just for more fat burning.

Hope your gadget comes in soon, and from what I've read so far - I'm sure it's going to solve all your problems, and you'll be back on the road in no time!, well if the heat drops a little.

It's kind of necessary to like treadmills as a running in Phoenix. The only way around it is to wake up at 4:30 when it is only 90F out.

Glad to see you are making progress with your knee. I'm cheering for your 50-mile race to be a success.
