This past weekends trial run was one of my best ever.... not because of pace... not because of the location.... but because I was able to share it with and meet some great local runners. Mike and Chris joined me, Jackie, and Susan for a 13 mile trail run at our local State Park. It was VERY humid and we had a light sprinkle of rain every now and then but mostly we just talked none stop about all kinds of topics. The group clicked and the laughter began right away. These two guys had some great personalities and kept things interesting. It was priceless. What a fun group. I must point out that Chris had never ran trails before and was a real trooper. He teased about dropping after the first loop but hung in for the entire distance. Welcome to the DARK SIDE Chris. You will never look at road running the same again :)
We finished up and enjoyed some cold water melon as we toweled off. Our entire bodies were soaked with sweat and our legs were covered with dirt from the trail. It looked like we had ran through mud. A quick drive to the closest CVS and we purchased our Mountain Dews and our run was over. What a fun time!!
I would also like to point out that Scott also joined us. Although he has given up trails he ran the road portion inside of the park and rocked it. In all I think he ran 5 miles but like most roads in our area a lot of it was hills. I am so glad that he joined us and was able to meet Mike and Chris as well.
Sunday I rode with Jackie and was a bit surprised that my legs felt as good as they did. I could feel fatigue from the previous days run but was still able to maintain my normal pace. It was another very humid day and I must say that I enjoyed the ride but enjoyed staying indoors for the rest of the day once I got home.
This week will mark the first week of hill repeats. Just keep repeating "hills are your friends" and maybe my body will follow with love.

Robin
Thank you so much for the invitation, I really had a great time, and my legs are really sore. That was a strong run, good pace.
Mike
I am in a totally wacky state of mind, I thought you guess were holding beers for a second LOL.
What a good lookin group! ;-)
SOunds like it was a great run. Its always good when you have others to share in your torture
I wish there were some trails nearby me as my weak ankles could certainly use some strengthening. Some hills would be nice too ... Great that you had both and a fun group to join you!
Thanks so much for the friendship and the WATERMELON! Yum!!
Very intimidating looks you guys have!
Sounds like you guys had a great run, enjoy those hill repeats that are coming up.
Sounds like a fun run! :)
Robin, I had THE best time that I have had with training in a LONG time!! What an awesome (and challenging) trail it was. ( for me at least) I have been missing out on training with a group for sure.
I'm hoping that I can get another invitation back to run. You and your "girls" (excluding Mike & Scott of course:-) ) are trail hardcores!! It was great to meet Scott as well (what a cool dude).
Oh, BTW , My legs are STILL SORE. Getting off the motorcycle this morning after a 2hr ride to Salisbury was a slow and painful process. :-) Thanks again!!
Everything is more enjoyable when laughter is involved-way to go!
Good luck on your hills this week.
Great job out there.
Yeah, once you hit the trails, the roads seem boring after that.
Have fun on your hill repeats..
That's great mantra for hills. One of my faves is.."Embrace the suck, embrace the suck".
Look at you all bandana'd up, hardcore to the bone!
omg. i used to LOVE hill repeats! but i'm sick that way.
good friends are so cool. glad you're getting more people over to the dark side. :)
WOOHOO!!! I am glad to hear about a good trail run!!!
So glad you all had a great time together!! Sounds like a blast.
