Humbled but Growing

Last year training with my girls!!

Last year I had the luxury of training with and running in all of the same events with the same three hardcore girls. I knew this year would be different and although I was not thrilled with the idea I would make it work to reach my MMTR goal.

Riding with the Tuesday night group rider has opened up new doors and options to ride with other riders during the week. It has given me an opportunity to make new friends and contact with old friends. This week some local bloggers have also made contact and now I am excited to say that on Saturday we will have a group of 6 (Susan, Jackie, Chris, Mike, and Scott) tp meet at our local state park for a 12 mile trail run. I am excited to pass the miles of running with new people and also see my two girls that motivate me and keep me focused on my goals.

The ride on Tuesday was humbling.... for me. Jackie encouraged me (I love her for this)to jump in the 18-17 mph group and within 5 miles I was dropped. SUCKED!!! Just could not get the legs to push any faster. The 15-16 mph group caught us at about 10 miles. Since it seemed a bit to slow we decided to push ahead of the group and ride solo. Sucked getting pulled back in their group after about 5 more miles into the ride. Just more proof at how much drafting as a group benefits you. So after being humbled by this we rode in with them the rest of the way in.

Ride:
29 miles (16.8 mph)

Add in some more running this week and another ride (22 miles)/run (3 miles) tonight and that will bring me to my rest day on Friday.

Looking forward to posting about the awesome trail run on Saturday. Another reason I love this blogland!

You did a great job!!! You were encouraging those of us who felt like 4 year olds on tricycles out there with the "big boys and big girls"! You still rode very hard and very well, my friend! Looking forward to Saturday's run-Woohoo!
