I am a Runner.....

I have run 100’s of miles over the years and should see this when it is coming.
A bad run.
Sure they cannot all be good but when you have a bad one something happens.
Doubt creeps in and you become your worst enemy.
You fight it as long as you can.
Sometimes you win.
Sometimes you lose.
Yesterday I lost to the evil thoughts that seemed to take me over.
I ran.
I walked.
I ran some more.
And then I walked.
I am a runner yet I allowed myself to be consumed by these feelings.
So the 7 miles was by far a horrible run.
It is now behind me.
My weight workout was less than efficient.
It too is now behind me.
Today is a new day.
Another 7 miles.

Funny, I just wrote about my "bad one", far less poetic than you though. Kudos to your attitude, they can't all be winners!

Robin - check out this posting from Craig.. http://runningismental.blogspot.com/2008/09/runners-prayer-iv.html

He is a Baptist Minister who also happens to be a runner. A great combination for writing words that have great meaning to a runner.

Thanks for posting this and reminding us all that bad days are in the past.

Great post. We will all have bad days. It is how we learn from them, adjust, and move on that is important.

Love the new banner

At least you kept going and that's a victory - I have to learn that.

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your reading. I have also been ready for fall. Took the latter part of the summer off to recover from an injury. There were several runs like the one you describe before that decision was made. Somehow I always see things more clearly after a run -- even a bad one.

I've had many of those days and wanted to give up.

The next time I have a bad day, I will remember your words.

i hated those runs & that doubt that crept in ... but yes, you have run enough to know it happens. it doesn't mean anything other than the fact that you had a bad run. next one will be better ... you're doing great!
