What to Do During a Training Taper

I LOVE Runner's World.... recipe review below

My day began with a meet up at our local State Park with Team Dirty Feet.  The weather had a nice fall chill to it and the leaves that covered our path was just beautiful.  I loved ever mile of my 16 miles today!  My body felt great!!  Three of us began the first loop, two of us ran the second, and the last loop I was solo.  Today I found myself in a runners zone and the miles passed by so fast.  This is why I am a trail runner.  I considered doing a fourth loop but headed home to begin a fun day with Scott.

After a quick shower we headed to a a yummy restaurant and then to our running store.  After a few purchases... yes something new for my upcoming race... we headed home for an afternoon nap.  Just does not get much better than that!

In this months Runner's World I decided to cook three of the recipes in the article tilted "Super Fast" (page 41) and will note that they are not budget friendly but are all yummy and really does only take 15 minutes as advertised.

Tonight I cooked the Coconut-Almond Bars.

These are really good but I am already thinking of way I can modify and change the ingredients up for my next batch.
Can anyone tell that my Tapper Mode has left me with extra time on my hands?  :)

** I ran out of honey I substituted a half a cup with my Honey Stinger Gels.  Too funny!!  It worked :)

Enjoy!
Robin

I am so psyched to hear that you were in the zone on your latest run. Woo hoo! That is awesome. Reading your post really made me smile. And who knew you had the cooking touch too? I think you are the next (Trail Running, kick-ass version of) Rachael Ray.

Subbing Honey for gels? That's just wrong, even if you did grab the recipe out of Runner's World.

When I have extra time on my hands I tend to either cook or clean, mostly cook. This can be as good as it can be bad!

Nice job on the run.

Congrats on the good run and the bard. You'll have to let us know if you modify them the next time you make them. They sound great -- I love coconut and almonds.

Very creative of you! My mouth's watering...the coconut almond bars look and sound yum. I love this month's issue of Runner's World...tried the PR pasta and it came out quite good.

Your run sounds wonderful! But have to say, you're a little bit crazy: bars with gel - but it's a good crazy!!!

Yes, you are certainly in the clutches of the taper monster. ;-)

I was wondering if any of the recepies in the last issue were any good. So funny that you used Stingers in it. Awesome!
