Moving Along....
Even 4 days following MMTR I am still on a high. In fact I think it has taken this long for it truly to sink in that I ran 54 freaking miles!!
By Tuesday I could lower myself into a seat without assistance. Stairs were also doable and no longer an enemy. It also took until Tuesday for the swelling in my feet to go away and if it were not for the one little “hot spot” under my one toe my feet would be perfect.
So to close out my final thought on this event I have noted some Random Race Tidbits:
Starters: 258
Finishers: 186 (only 72% finished…wow)
Food eaten at Aid Stations: boiled potatoes (lots of them with salt), pretzels, gummy bears, cheese and crackers
Number of Honey Stingers: 14
Fluids taken in: over 200 oz. (water and Gatorade)
Number of Potty Stops: 7
Hours that I listened to music: 6 hrs. (best mix ever)
Toenails Lost: NONE (sorry Marcy)
Blisters: 1 small one and 1 raw spot under a toe
Weight Lost: 2 lbs. (am sure I have already gained this back)
What is next…. DISNEY Marathon on January 11th. My husband signed us up for this event and we are both looking forward to it. I will do some very small runs for the next two weeks and get some swim time in at our Sports Club pool. The more I stretch the better I feel. The more I move around the better I feel. I have said this before but one of the best benefits to running trail events is the fast recovery. The road is not our friends folks.
THANKS again for ALL of the cheering along the way and awesome comments. You all ROCK!!
Robin

Enjoy recovery and feel proud girl. The Disney Marathon will be a cinch ;-) How fun that your husband is doing it too!
Sounds like an awesome race experience all the way around.
Good luck with the training for the Disney Marathon
Great tidbits and after MMTR all you have is a hot spot on your toe!!!???. I have to repeat my praise of your accomplishment once again. You rock! The Disney Marathon will be a such a blast and, I was thinking that it probably seem like a cakewalk for you. What a great and fun event to look forward to (nice job Hubby).
So happy to hear that you are recovering quickly! I think I'm in worse shape that you and I only ran 13 miles. :p
Interesting stats! Great to hear your feet fared well but bummed that I will be in Minnesota the weekend you and many others come to Orlando to run Disney. WAAHH!!!
Congrats on your amazing race finish! So glad you got to experience the perfect race that you trained so hard for. What an awesome support crew you have! You make ultra running sound so fun.
Enjoy your continued recovery and the crosstraining. Disney should be fun, and it's coming soon!
Glad the recovery is going well. The marathon is going to seem so short!
Oh, and the milky way thing, I read about it in a Runners World article. I like that you eat potatoes!
you are so awesome :) glad your recovery is going so awesome!!!

Hey! I just found your blog through D10's blog...you totally rock! That is such an accomplishment...I can't even imagine running 54 miles. Awesome! Hope your recovery goes well :)
awesome job, lady!
Stat that made me laugh.
Starters: 258
Finishers: 186 (only 72% finished…wow)
ONLY 72%! I'm impressed that one person finished. I still cannot wrap my head around the concept of 54 hard, hilly miles in 11 hours. Are you kidding me?
May have to try the honey stingers for my marathon training.
Great to hear you are recovering well. You really do rock!! Disney should be a breeze
Great job out there. Time for 100 miles?
Wooo Hooo Robin, so sorry I been late to the party but wanted to stop by and give you a HUGE Congrats!!!!
Way to get it done you Ultra Gal on a tough course in 11 hours ish... , WOW, you did soooo awesome!
Very Happy for you Robin! Enjoy your recovery time!!!!
That's great your recovering well.
That's great, I did the Disney marathon about 2 years ago. Very nice Mickey "bling" when you finish..
Rest up and congrats again.
You must soak yourself in a tub of ice cold beer for at least two weeks after any race. That includes 5k's, 5 milers, 50 milers....
A soda straw for the beer is optional.
Yahoo!
I'm really impressed that you actually ran that many miles AND you didn't lose a toenail. WOWzie.
:) Rest up.....
Recovery is coming along well!! I'm not sure when I'll be able to run again. I suspect this weekend, when I ref a soccer tournament!! Very cool you are doing Disney together. That is really a fun marathon!!
Yeah!! Way to go! I am glad that you had such a great race. I am glad that you are recovering so quickly. I am sure that the Disney Marathon will be a blast, but it will be harder on your legs than the trail. Good luck with your marathon training.
That is a whole lot of distance!
That is a lot of miles sister. Way to go!

"boiled potatoes"??? It makes sense, but YUCK! NICE JOB!! Way to be in that minor percentage!!!
Congrats again!!
I need to start running on trails. I am not a fan of the roads.
You deserve to take the month off. Enjoy and bask in the feeling...You rock!
Now that's a fine body of stats!
Hey, wow, after this the Disney Marathon will be like an easy run. Love the tidbits from race day!
