Tempo Run

This was a first for me.  I have read about them and even did the math in the event that one day I would try it.  Well today Scott and I had the pleasure of sharing the road with Chris for an 11 mile tempo run.

The concept is smart and I liked the run.  I am the worst at adding speed work and tempo runs in but I have made a promise to myself to do these in 2009.  It is all about getting smarter and reaching new/different goals.

We wrapped up the run with a hard push to the car.  Chris did great today and will be more than ready for his half marathon coming up in a few weeks.

Scott and I have finished up the workout with a hard 30 minute ride at the Sports Club.  With our membership ending the last day of November I have decided to cycle my bunns off and not miss a class.

Thanks a ton for all of the encouraging comments about Scott's job hunt.  Never a fun thing to do BUT we know that this is just another opportunity to do even more in his field.  His attitude and outlook is just amazing.  It will help open doors that he could never see if he where a negative person.

Happy "pre" Thanksgiving!!

Robin

I was bad at temo runs and spedwork too, until recently. The speedwork is NOT fun but it's definately helping my endurance.

How do you figure out pace for a temp run?

Sounds like fun! We are going to do speed work on Wed. am at the middle school if you all want to join us. I'll be the one in the very back of the pack!!
Love you!

I always thought Tempo runs weren't much longer than 5 miles. Nice job on the 11 mile tempo run! :)

Good luck to Scott finding work. I read your post below and it sounds like you guys have it figured out as far as what you need to do in the mean time.

Well, that's one heck of a way to jump into doing tempo runs!

Great attitude on the job front. I hope he finds something even better than before. And I will gladly sign that RW issue when our paths cross someday :-)

Tempo runs are one of the best tools for adding race-pace speed and endurance. Great job!

I'm still wishing Scott all the best luck with the job hunt.

Great job on the run. Does Scott have any leads on a new job, or is he still evaluating what is available out there?

Great job on the tempo run- they always kick my ass.

Sorry to hear about Scott's job situation. Having recently (well, not even, it was 5 months ago) been laid off from my job I can totally relate. It's been a little tight financially but it has been a great opportunity for us to make changes in our lives that we'd been planning for a while. Things will all work out!

Happy thanksgiving!

Tempo runs are cool ... really gives you a reason to stretch out your legs.

Best of luck to Scott on the job search. I've been there, it isn't fun, but he seems to have a good attitude, which is awesome.
