Dreaded Speed Sessions

What a great holiday! I have protested listening to any sort of Christmas music until after all the turkey had been eaten and now can say that the Christmas season has arrived in our house.

Scott and I kept busy with painting, cleaning, and napping over the 5 days that I was off. He took a mental break from the job hunt and we spent some nice time together. Thanksgiving Day began with a 6:30am 8 mile run with a great group of friends. What better way to show how thankful we are for good friends and good health. The weather over the weekend was cold and wet so I had two days of riding indoors.

Even with all of the workouts I managed to over eat each and every day and as a results I feel 100% toxic. This feeling will pass but it makes me wonder how I ever functioned before I did start eating and living a healthier lifestyle.

Today begins my “at home” workouts. My trainer is all set up and in place. Wednesday night group track workouts will begin this week for the dreaded speed sessions. It must be done and putting it off will not make it any easier. I have the best network of friends that I train with. Seriously… they all ROCK!!

I'm surprised you call them "dreaded" you're a crazy one (I mean that with all the love in the world), I figure you'd love the speed sessions LOL

Thanks again for letting us use the trainer! Hopefully Santa will drop one off at our house! Looking forward to the run on Sat.--not on Wed though!

I love when I can finally put on the Christmas tunes!!

I too, went way overboard - started with week long birthday celebration and went right into & past Thansgiving! Am in detox! No more!

You'll start to like the speed sessions when you see how they pay off!

I wouldn't listen to Christmas music either until after Thanksgiving.

Despite my running, I over ate too!

have fun with the speedwork, and at least you have a great group, will make it pass by even faster! :)

Glad to see that you survived the weekend. I am glad that someone ate too much food. I ended up counting every calorie that I consumed. (Dr.'s order) and the weight kept comming off.

It's amazing how different eating like that feels when you are an athlete. I can remember eating all kinds of awful thing...but I'm trying to forget.

Good luck with the training!

Your friends aren't as good as my friends!

Seriously what better way to enjoy a long weekend than a run with friends!

Don't worry about the speed work. Once you toss both your lungs it's not that big of a deal.

I'm still reluctant to catch the Christmas spirit but I suppose I'd better get with the program.

Enjoy your workouts and good luck to Scott on his search.

I can't seem to get back on the trainer after all of the riding I have done outside. I should just sell the thing. :>P

You are so lucky to have a group of people to run with. When I get back into it full force I will be looking into finding some peeps. I hear you on the toxic thing. Getting started at the gym this morning was not easy.

Isn't it just great to have a wonderful bunch of people to work out with?

Glad you had a great Thanksgiving!!

I'm sure that toxic feeling will disappear soon, esp. with the speed sessions. Sounds like you've got a pretty hardcore off-season planned. I think I'm supposed to take it easy most of December :-)

Yes it's hard to believe what we once ate. I am as well so thankful for the eye opener.

Have fun.
