We have all been touched by cancer in some way. I have several family members and friends who have had the courage to face cancer head on. I see no better reason to be a part of such a powerful event. This past year has been a very different year for my husband and me that I had an opportunity to be blessed and see things in a different way. It is during this time that I have felt led to do more for the community. Participating in events that make a difference in others lives. Giving back. That is why I feel led to be a part of this Challenge to Conquer Cancer. It just feels right. Call it a leap of faith.
On October 18, 2009, the 2009 Challenge to Conquer Cancer Relay Ride will leave Greenville, South Carolina for Austin, Texas. We will ride as a team covering miles and miles of roads until we reach our destination. It will be there that we will join the LiveSTRONG Challenge, the signature event of The Lance Armstrong Foundation. This is event is designed to honor and memorialize cancer survivors.
You can help make a difference. Over 3,500 Americans are diagnosed with cancer each day. Every year, more than one million Americans will be diagnosed with the disease. Please join me as I participate in this significant event to raise awareness about the importance of clinical trials, cancer research and to raise money for cancer advocacy and cancer research. My personal goal is to raise $5000.00 so that the fight against cancer can continue to gain momentum and strength.
All donations are tax-deductible and no amount is too small.

Whatever your desire or ability to contribute it will be meaningful.
The battle against cancer is significant and grows every day. Please help me to support the Lance Armstrong Foundation and the Oncology Research Institute of the Greenville Hospital System. The Palmetto Peloton Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. For more information, please visit their website at http://www.palmettopelotonproject.org/.

That sounds like it is going to be an amazing event for you, and for a fantastic cause!
A great cause, what a great event!
Sounds like a great ride for a worthy cause.
That's awesome! A lot can happen between now and then. Make sure you remind us often :-)
You are such an awesome person. So selfless.
I almost wished I could be part of that event.
May I put a link to that on my Blog Sidebar?
Again, the courage you have to start this is even more amazing, but then again, it's not all about yourself which makes it even more unreal what you are doing.
Again, I am so proud of you! You truly exemplify those who are unselfish...love you, girl!!
And a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hugs!
Susan
Robin! That is amazing! What an incredible opportunity for you to touch so many lives! You know we expect to be reading about the ride!!
Just popped over to your blog for the first time. "Runner Mom ~ Susan" encouraged me to do so as I am an avid cyclist! I love the title of your blog... however I am not a runner, just a cyclist! (bad knees - old gymnastics injuries)
I too have been touched by cancer as my youngest sister was diagnosed at the age of 33 w/ breast cancer. Chemo, double mastectomy and 6.5 years later she is cancer free! Still praying and fighting!
Love your cause... will you ride the entire distance? What is the distance? God bless you! I will definitely be following along w/ you and praying for you along the way!
My niece and her hubby moved to Greenville, SC last fall! I miss them so much!
I will be back again to read more!
