Savings or Just Plan Stupid

So stupid I had to post about this….

Because we are watching pennies closer these days I was more than upset when I broke a tooth on Monday. Tuesday I did not call the dentist but after my run in the frigid cold temps I made sure to call the next morning to get and appointment. So on Thursday I head over and after an evaluation I get this neat printout of what it will cost me before they begin the work. I notice on the list is Novocain at $46.00. Before I knew it I uttered the words that I was opting not to have any thinking that saving this money would be smart. If you could have only seen the look on the dentist face. As he began his work he asked me once more and to be honest I was even questioning myself but I had committed to sticking to my decision. All was tolerable UNTIL he blasted my mouth with the air gun. Then I realized that I had to be the STUPIST person alive. Next time I would be willing to pay double for the Novocain.

After arriving home I quickly changed clothes to get my trainer ride done and relax for the evening. From time to time the plan does not work out as it should. This happened last night.

Plan: Garage Trainer Ride – 60 minutes

Reality: 3.5 mile run at the gym followed by another mile walk with my hubby on the indoor track

After getting my bike set up on the trainer, selecting my workout sheet, getting all of the necessary gear together, I get on the bike to discover that my back tire is FLAT. Last time it took me 45 minutes to change it. The tire fits so tight to the rim. After realizing that Scott had the bike pump with him in his car I opted to bag the ride. When he walked through the door and took one look at my face he quickly said “let’s head to the gym instead.”

This is just another reason why I love my husband so much. He gets me. All you can do is laugh sometimes when things don’t go as planned. So there we were running side by side on the treadmills at the gym. We did our time on the beast and the follow up conversation on the track was a perfect way to cool down where I decided to share my ordeal about saving us $46.00 and just about peed my pants in the process from laughing so hard.

Good Times.

Robin

I have yet to comment on your blog. Enoy reading it a lot though. However, this posting regarding the novacaine - well - has me speechless (which seems ironic to say? in a way?). Just so sorry to hear about this. Root Canal once for me. The novacaine started to actually wear off near the end of the procedure. The dentist could've hit me with a baseball bat and this would not have taken my mind off the tooth pain.

I LOVE running on the treadmill with a good partner...and miss that girl now that she's gone. We used to have the greatest conversations, and great 'races' too. Good times!

Good Glory Women...you have balls of steel! I'm a really wimpy wimp when it comes to all things teeth, gums, mouth. I'd go for triple next time~or just drink heavily before you go. ;)

You guys are one of the cutest couples I "know".

As for the teeth...I understand ya! I need some dentist work as well done and rather wait until I have insurance soon. In this country you must be rich to have nice teeth!!!

LOL, Which was more painful, the drill or 60 minutes on a trainer? I might choose the drill...

Sorry to laugh about your pain but that Novacain story funny! Glad you have an understanding Hubby.

PS - We are so cheap that we haven't turned on the heat in our house this week. Temps have been 50-55 indoors!
