Put It In Writing

I have been asked by coach to make a list of my goals. This should be easy right? Now that Scott is back to work one would think I would be thrilled to know that I have more $$ to sign up for a few events that I so desire. Have I…nope. Do I really know what my goals are…nope….well kind of…in a dreamy sort of way. (note: I did buy a new bra!)

It seems that I am more excited to hear and listen to others goals these days. Really excited. It gets me dreaming of running Ultras, Ironman, climbing amazing mountains on my bike, and crossing finish lines that give out nice shinny medals. So what gives? In reality writing these goals down will turn all of the dreaming that I do more into a reality. It will be real. It will be work. It will be amazing.

So having said all of this I have until high noon on Friday to get this task completed. Then I will await the first week of masterful planning to arrive. This is sure to included the most dreaded A.M. workouts that I know I need to do but have yet to drag my sorry butt out of bed to accomplish. I would imagine that it will not included the glass or two of yummy malbec wine that I love to indulge in while tasting rich cheeses. And without a doubt it will include butt kicking, make you want to cry to your momma, mixes that are sure to bring smiles as I mark off said goals one by one.

The dreaming part is huge in all of this. Never thought about it directly before. Good luck writing all dreams and goals down and lots of courage, too. I think I would panic if someone asked me to do so. But will you share????

Dreams and goals come easy for me, it's finding the time to support the desire what becomes difficult. A glass of wine, easy music, and set your thoughts on your inner soul to find the goal. Make sure you pick something you think is just beyond your reach, and then don't look back.

Mmm, wine!!!

Putting your goals on paper means the hard work can really begin. Good luck!

In a workshop we hosted back in November Jim C talked about how important it is to write down your goals... make them difficult but realistic. He gave out some good worksheets... I'll have to find and pass them along to you.

Good stuff...dream...write down...I do it too. Even have on the list of summitting both Mt Hood and Shasta in the same week on that list...and it has nothing to do with running or ultras...;-)

Until very recently I never wrote down my goals. That is not to say I didn't have really big ones but writing them down and announcing them to others was really hard for me. But I do think it's good to do. And like many things, once you do it, it gets easier. Look forward to hearing more!

That is, assuming you are going to share them. If not, that's OK too. One step at a time ...
