A Dash of this A Dash of That

A little of This a Little of That……………..

April 24, 2004 – this was the date of my first ever HM. 1:59:28 in Kentucky. I am so excited about the Cherry Pointe Marine HM this weekend. I know that is has a large part to do with the fact that my son is a Marine and will hopefully be running it with me. I also love this distance. It is long enough that you can settle into a good pace but short enough that you can hold onto a good hammer if the legs feel good.

Last night I joined our local bike club for the standing Tuesday night Country ride. Hundreds of cyclist arrive and separate in appropriate pace groups. Before we started the country loop we did a 7.2 mile ride to honor the passing of our dear friend Perry lead by a police escort. Let’s just say that there were a lot of riders. What a great celebration of his life.

Trying to get ahead of things I purchased some Easter Basket items for our youngest son. 16 years old is not too old! So when the little pink Peeps were glaring me down in the car on the way home I had to eat them. The entire row. Upon arriving home I had to hide the fact that my teeth and lips were a dark pink. LOL!

Our new Team Kits are in!! No more having to wash my one jersey over and over again. Shorts sleeve jerseys, shorts, arm warmers, sleeveless jerseys, and a Tri Suite…. Can’t wait to pick up all of the new gear tonight!

Scott was hurt being a Rock Star in a recent Basketball game. Nothing serious. He may have torn a tiny ligament behind his one knee. Out for 3 more weeks. While we waited for the doctor I took a picture of “Grandpa” in his wheels. My man is falling apart..lol! btw - the staff was not amused by our fun;(

Next month begins the some Tri Training. I have committed to a Sprint in June and a Half Iron in August. It has been some time since I have dipped my toes in the Tri World but I am ready.

Have a great rest of your week. Full race report will follow on Monday.

...so I'm wondering how long it will be before you come home to find Scott dressed up like a pink chicken /=) ... being bored and all from healing up ;-)

Nice tribute to a friend. Learning to deal with losing loved ones is job #1 in our 40's. Hope Perry was impressed with the turn-out. Very touching.

I am so proud of you for making those tri goals! If they're anywhere close by, we'll come and cheer you on. :)

And about the PEEPS... you can NOT deny their power. I love them. They are SO FREAKING DELICIOUS! -- Jess

What a wonderful, touching tribute to celebrate Perry's life. I'm glad a lot of folks showed up.

Sorry to hear about Scott's injury, though. At least it was due to heroics rather something stupid like what happened to me.
