Shocking..and without warning we lost a dear friend this week. He was only 46 years old. Over the past few years this man has been such a positive mentor for me on the bike. This past year I had the pleasure of training and sharing in this experience with Perry during the ride to Austin, TX, Challenge to Conquer Cancer.It is in these times that I can clearly see how we have all formed a family, a bond that is unexplainable, and that in part the bike is only a small tool that unites us. We are a family that shares in the tears and all of the laughter that life brings our way.
This week I have wanted to do nothing. Just be sad in this news. My dad often says that life is for living. We must continue to move forward even in the saddest times.
So I will move forward. Embrace all that Perry shared with me. Remember the lessons of riding, positive words, and love that he had for riding and all that came with it.
As I approach 3 days filled with Team Training this weekend I will ride my ride for Perry. I will smile and know that he gave us all a gift that even now I am realizing more and more.
As he would say.... What A RIDE!

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. It sounds like he was quite a guy.
The people in the Endurance world are some of the best people in the world....REALLY they are...we go into a race...and boil down life in just a few short hours...most people, that takes years to accomplish...but not people like Perry...Ride On...it's really your only choice...It's in your soul...

Obviously, Perry knew.
Honor him by giving him the grief he is due - even while moving forward for those who can move forward no longer.

Wow, I'm so sorry! What a great guy. But he obviously lives on in you and everyone else he touched.
