Junk talk from a 16 Year Old

Today I get an email from Scott that simply states “60 days” with a link listed beside it. Not sure what he was talking about but after one click on the link I was hit with the reality of Six Gap approaching.

The Six Gap Century’s ultra challenging route takes you up and down six of the steepest climbs in the North Georgia Mountains. Test your stamina with more than 11,200 feet of vertical climbing over the 104 mile course. Elevations for the six gaps in this ride range from 1,400 feet to 3,460 feet. The toughest climb, Hogpen Gap, will test even the strongest riders, averaging a 7% grade for seven miles, with sections as steep as 15%.

Now before I can even truly go there I first must get the next two Tri event completed. One of which is this weekend and the last one the following weekend.

The true challenge in all of this is the HEAT. Saturday’s training ride covered 64 miles with some nice climbing. As the ride ended the temp was 100.5 degrees. Somehow on this ride I managed to nail my fluids and felt great the entire ride. I even weighed myself before and after and I was dead on the same weight. Perfect! Now can I do it again :).

Now my running has not been so stellar. In fact, after my last run this is how I ended up once I got home….

I was toast. Then my son actually talked me into ads, pull ups, and planks following the run with him. I said no until he said I was crying like a little girl..then I had to do it :)

all I can think of is how I hope your secret weapon to get me to love hills is a motor. Georgia. 6 Gap. 15% hills. Oh my. I did do one thing like you on our Saturday ride...I managed my liquids and fuel well. : ))

As long as the climbs are not on a sun-baked, steep mtn side, the air-flow will usually keep you cool, PROVIDED you stay hydrated and manage electrolytes. Kudos!

That running stuff? :-O If God had intended man to run he wouldn't have invented the wheel. Sheesh, what were you thinking? ;)
