A Little Smack Talk

I am not sure exactly when the shift took place but it has. Little by little Scott has given more over to cycling. No longer just a casual rider he has become one that has a strong driven passion to tackle some decent miles each week. For a time we would hang close together on the flats but I would always leave him on the hills. The shift is beginning to take place even in this area. He is becoming stronger and leaner and I am having to work that much harder just to stay just far enough ahead of him. J.

On Monday we did an hour Stretch-X session together. In the past I would nag about the importance of why he needed to join me for the hour long dvd. This week he was ready even before me. At the end of the session I mentioned that I believed our Saturday morning group training ride would likely roll out at 6am. The old Scott would have expressed his dislike to the early hour immediately but instead his response was “GREAT” and I looked at him in total disbelief.

Today our training ride calls for an hour of 155 bpm / high cadence followed by 3 2 mile hill repeats. The junk talk has already started and I believe Scott said I would likely be “sucking his wheel”….. gotta love the smack talk!

Oh Yeah, bring on the smack talking.

I thought I noticed Scott getting a lot leaner - like 8-12 lbs leaner. Very, very helpful on the climbs. Kudos big guy. I need to do this myself. Too many more pressing matters at the moment, but soon.

Nice to see a couple getting stronger with each success. Big kudos you two!
