Beach Time

With all of this cycle talk I thought it would be nice to put my beautiful road bike to work on the road last night for some hammering. I arrived at a well known cycle route right at 6pm for a solo ride. This 7.2 mile route is a nice, safe loop that offers some great hill work.

Just before the first loop is complete I was being passed by a small group of riders. I can not let this happen! I step up my cadence and before you know it I am part of their ride. They invite me to continue with them and I accept. Nice being pushed and having the company. Without even realizing it we where hammering a much faster pace and to my surprise it felt good. Completed 21.6 miles with an average pace of 17.86. For someone who does not ride often I was more than pleased with the end result. I will point out that since I appear to be a drunk driver trying to drink while cycle I failed at getting enough liquids in. Slammed lots of water when I get home. Also need to relax shoulders. Very tight today.

Tonight will be some last minute packing and then off to the beach we go for a week. I am planning on getting in a 8 miler in the morning before we leave. Other than that my books are all packed and can hardly wait to just veg and read.

Will post some from the beach. Pictures will follow… I promise.

Happy Running!
Robin

Nice work on the loop. A couple of those hills seem to go on forever, and can really kill your average speed.

You guys have fun at the beach, and don't worry about bringing us too many presents back. LOL! Totally kidding, but do have fun and do unwind. Just don't get burned up and lazy. ;-)

See you when you get back.

AWESOME JOB!!! LMAO I have a hard enough time getting fluids down while running, I can only imagine how it is while biking.

woo hoo. you go girl! happy to have motivated you to get on the bike. it's a nice change from running now & then - amazing how much MORE of the world you get to see! definitley better to be with a group i think ... nothing pushes you to step it up a notch like the threat of people passing you & being left in the dust. way to go .. still owe you an email @ your question on my blog.

the ride & drink thing gets better!

have a great beach vacation!
