It is official. I have a case of the post race blues. This past weekend was the first weekend since February that I did not have a planned running weekend. I did run on Saturday morning for 5 miles downtown with a friend. I had quit a bit of aching in the knees the entire run. The only thing that I can account this to would be the new shoes I purchased about 4 or 5 weeks ago. This week I will return to the running store I purchased them at and see what I need to do.
So today I am going to set a mini plan up to fill the gap for the next three weeks. Lots of resistance and core training with a minimum 20 miles of running per week. I enjoy and thrive off of structure. Putting things on paper just helps me out and keep me relaxed and calm. One of these days I will learn to relax but until then I will plan…plan… plan!!

well i am glad you survived a weekend without a plan. :) too bad your knees were acting up, hopefully it wasn't the shoes and just recovery from the awesome weekend last week!

I'm not normally one for plans, but it definitely helps a lot with this whole running thing. Especially if you have other things (family, work, etc) going on. Sounds like you have a great idea for your plan ;D

Oooooooooo Thanks so much for the link! I'm going to have to print it out! The times actually look like they match up pretty well with the FIRST plan times. The thing with me is that, I purposely picked a 5K time (your 5K time is used as a base for your pace times in the FIRST plan. I'm sure you already know that :P ) slower then what I'm able to run but faster then my actual 5k race time. Did that make any sense? LOL I just have this fear that if I use my fastest time, my workouts won't be any fun and I'll end up hating running. And since this is my first HM I still want to have a little fun ;) I'm just unsure how much leeway I should give myself :-/
Ahhh... I sure hope you find out what's going on with your shoes, Robin. It does sound like that's why your knees hurt. Let me know what they say!

Can we expect a new shoe report soon from behind the desk? I hope they stand behind their sale and give you a deal on replacements; after all your running group is supported by them and you all have spent a few bucks there.

I think you have the right idea. Lower the mileage and crosstrain while you are recovering and design out your plan leading to your next race.
