Alarm clock screams at 4:30am Saturday morning. Yikes this was early but I quickly packed all my gear in the car and headed to meet the girls for our hour drive to the mountains. Within the first 15 minutes of our run two deer crossed our path and I must admit at that moment it was worth getting up early just to be there. The temperature was also amazing and slightly cool. As the sun came up it made it's way through the cracks in the forest to spread a beautiful blanket of light for us. Another wonderful moment!
Due to some obligations we ended the run at 19.5 miles and then headed home. I completed my additional 4.5 miles later that evening and to my surprise I felt really good during it. Sunday I tackled a new course in a neighborhood I knew would dish out more hills to me. My goal was not speed but to complete the entire run tackling each hill without walking. My mind was focused and each hill was tackled without a problem. It became a game in fact and my mind was winning. The only way to conquer hills is to run them like crazy... right?!!
So for the week I reached 50 miles. I am thrilled and proud at my ability to continue to grow. Feeling stronger everyday!!

Awesome job, that's quite an acomplishment! That's the way I tend to go after hills, unless my lungs are already trying to jump out of my throat. Just give it a grunt and charge up. For me, it seems that I wind up using different muscles, or the same ones in differnet ways. which gives me a break. I guess that's why people used to running hills have a hard time in all flat. Same with cycling, me thinks.
Holy cow lady! That rocks! You did a great job getting all those miles under your belt this week. How many are on the agenda for next?
Fantastic job! It sounds like you have put your knee issues behind you and are running stronger than ever. Great job and keep up the good work!

Getting up and over 50 miles is a great accomplishment. I'm impressed how you're doing it in style. Many of us just keep running around the same road courses near our houses. You get out and find someplace interesting to run.
