Miles

Today is my 9th day of not running.

Hi, my name is Robin and I am addicted to running.  Do I get a chip for making it this far?

Actually I am doing better today than I have all week.  Saturday I took my bike off of my trainer (aka Big Red) and hit the road with a girl friend.  Had to cut the ride short at mile 14 to get my oldest to work.  Super bummed because it felt so good to be out enjoying some exercise pain free.

Today I put the bike back on Big Red and rode for a hard 45 minutes while wearing a sweatshirt.  I was soaked and it felt good!  So I feel like I am coming around.

This week my PT may give me the green light to run a few miles so we will see.  All of this recent running drama has made me realize that I needed this mental and physical break.  Hard to admit but there is truth to me saying that.  I have been training from one race to the next since June 2005.  I would say that this "little break" is due and will make me stronger and fresh for my races that will come this year.

Registration has been mailed in for the Ride with Ronald.  I signed up for the 25 mile distance but I do have the option of trying for the 64 mile distance race day.  I really just plan on going for as long as I can.  Excited to have something to focus on and a charity ride just makes it that much better.

I think you get at least a "gold star" for not running so long and listening to the doctors orders..

That's great the PT lets you run a little bit..

Have fun at the bike ride..

I agree that every once in a while all of us runners need a break. Whether self-imposed or not. Good luck w/ the bike ride!

i think that's one of the hardest things - to actually realize & then admit maybe you really do need a break, mentally & physically. if you don't take it yourself, your body will force it on you. sucks that we have to learn this the hard way!

The great thing about we humans is that we heal. The healing process usually takes longer (much longer) than we'd like, but we do heal.

You'll come out of this stronger than ever.

Glad you've found something that sort-of takes the place of running, although I know in your mind - nothing does. But at least you're enjoying the bike. I wish we could ride in that ride, but Cooper River is something we've wanted to do for years.

Keep it up, Robin!

Let's hope for good news from the PT. Otherwise, we may have to use special persuasion on the man. ;-)

At least you are getting a workout on the bike...but it sure can't take the place of running, huh?
