Back At It

Grand Canyon
Vacation in Sedona, AZ turned out to be exactly what I had hoped for. We were so excited the night before we left that we only slept about 4 hours before we headed to the airport. Each day was filled with scenic views that a camera could not come close to capturing. A day trip to the Grand Canyon, a train ride through the Verde Canyons, and an entire day of off roding in a jeep on challenging trails would fill our days with tons of adventure.

One of the highlights to our trip was Scott and I having the pleasure of having dinner with Phil. He drove 100 miles from Phoenix. What a guy!! His energy was great and we talked as if we were old friends. Super guy. Thanks Phil for all of your help with planning our vacation and coming so far to meet us for dinner. We truly enjoyed it!!

Dinner with Runing In The Sun, Phil

Scott and Greg on the train ride in the Verde Canyons We drove this jeep for 7 hours. I had white knuckles on most of the trails.

Family photo in Sedona

I did manage to run twice while we were there. The heat was not as much of a factor as the altitude. By the end of the week my body felt the effects of not exercising and my poor food choices were doing a number on my stomach. Still is was worth the break in training and just enjoying my family. We took over 1000 photos so I spared you guys with just picking a few.
This week I will be eating GREEN. Tons of veggies for this chic. My girl, Jac crushed me on a 10 mile run to welcome me home yesterday. I followed the punishment up with a 10 mile cycle.
Back to the training grind. Good to be home!!

Oh wow! Beautiful! A friend that I met while I was in the military lived near Sedona and he used to tell me how beautiful it was. I have yet to see the area for myself... but it's on my list! :o) I've been to the Grand Canyon... and that was pretty spectacular. Looked somewhat like your pictures. If only I had been a runner back then. Of course like you mentioned, the altitude probably would have been the death of me. My house is a whopping 13ft. above sea level. LOL!

So glad you had a wonderful time!

PS- I think I may be finally acclimating to the heat & humidity. I still need to e-mail you... :o)

J-Mom is right, Phil is a good guy. I'm glad you got to experience some of the beauty of Arizona. If you get out this way again, we will have to get the whole AZ blogging crew together.

Wow what a great time it looks like you all had.... Love the pics & welcome back.

In 2009 I am planning to run the Grand Canyon Rim2Rim2Rim, suppose to be an amazing time from the South to the North--48 mile trek.

Now get to those Greeens, I feel so much better just a few days back to good wholesome food & no beers....Party is over Chica back to training -- woo hooo

Happy to see that you and your family got home safe and sound. Glad you didn't back up too far on that Canyon Rim shot. It's a long way down.

I would have loved to meet up with you and Phil. I met my wife when we were both going to college in Flagstaff AZ. Sedona is great, as for the Grand Canyon, are you up for a 50 mile run from rim to rim to rim? I would love to get a group of people together and do a run.
