Smart Training

Some days I just am at a lose of what to blog about.  It is not that I do not have a thousand thoughts in my head it just seems that they are thoughts that are other wise boring or uninteresting.

The main thought that is not leaving me as I begin the Iron Adventure this year is SMART TRAINING.  By this I mean training by the plan.  Staying within your limits.  Last week I bit off more than I should have in cycling and as a result I had some pretty junkie, hard kick your butt rides.  For some dumb reason I am trying to pick up in my cycling where I left off back in September.  Not happening people.

So as much as it may pain me I am going to STICK WITH THE PLAN and be a smart girl.  I have mapped out what needs to be done this week.  This is what I will stick by.  May not be what others would do but from all the books that I have absorbed over the holidays (4 awesome ones) one thing it the same... too much training too early is just that.  Call it junk training.  Call it injury or burnt out around the corner training.  Not something I want.

2009 is about changing bad habits and TRAINING SMARTer.  :)

I hear you! I'm right there with you too! Had just the slightest...I mean slightest inkling about doing the Frosty 50 on Saturday. But...the 50 dollar (late regis.) price tag made me realize that I haven't done hardly anything since the marathon. Train Smart!! Stay in town.

And...you and J. did a great job on Sat.! I'm proud of you!
Hugs,

Yay! That's what I'm striving for, too.

So what books did you read???

I think you are being smart with your training, especially since you were able to recognize that you were doing too much too soon.

Here is to great training in 2009.

Very smart indeed.
Only you know what needs to be done.

I'm not loading up my plate either or doing anything dumb.

Smart training is the way to go. Would you mind sharing the names of the books? I can always use suggestions.

It's all been said above but yes good input equals good output, you can only build a strong house on a solid foundation...but you knew that already.

I can't believe you read four books!

Bravo to that, homie. Check out my last two posts.

Other than nutrition, there is no other single thing you can do better to ensure your cross that finish line, than train smartly.

A very intellegent gameplan for certain. I have no doubt that if you follow it, you are going to be crossing that finish line with a giant smile across your face.

Happy training!!

Sounds like a wise decision to do it at your pace and peak on Race Day. Best of luck to you and your training for the Iron.

Training smarter is the way to go. You've got a good mindset to stick to it. Looking forward to doing some looooong training runs with and the group. Mind if I borrow any of the good books?
