Last week I changed up the upper and lower weight routine that I do with my 15 year old. He is an incredible workout partner and cuts his mom no slack! By the end of the week I had to use my hands to help lower myself to use the bathroom, get in and out of the car, pretty much anything that required me to use my legs and bottom. Tonight we start the program for the second week. Am I scared…. NOPE. I think (praying) that my body will not punish me like it did last week. Still, it only makes me realize how efficient our bodies become to routine.
Just a quick post and a little something to think about. Is it time for your routine to change?

change is good, keeps the body and mind challenged! Great work!
Muscle confusion, a P90X principle :-)
I finally started doing yoga and even that made me sore, from stretching muscles that I wasn't on my own. good call to remember to switch it up.
Yes ma'am!I actually did intervals yesterday! Weights tonight!
Talk to ya soon!
Hugs!

I'm just starting a gym routine and am somewhat hesitant for the same reason. I need to simply get it over with and hope I adjust quickly
Exactly my dear, those muscles of ours are so smart.
They need to be challenged in different areas all the time! You should change up the routine sometimes as little as two weeks. I just started a new ab routine....and ouch!
I think changing it up a bit every now and then is great. I don't know what I did before when I wasn't swimming and biking. I love the constant change and challenge!
You are so right.

So true....keep up the good work Robin and don't let that kiddo push Mommy to hard :-)
I don't really need to change a routine, yet...It is more like I need to get in to one!
Way to go! You are an inspiration. Smart, hard work and always challenging ourselves in new ways is the key to avoiding plateaus, boredom and burnout. Keep on rocking.
I was soooooo sore for the first week or so when I got back to doing upper body strength training over the holidays. Turned out not to be a good thing, though, for me as I was also trying to maintain my swim yardage and overdid things (I'm pretty sure). The new routine my coach gave me is so easy that it's HARD -- LOL!!
