I live to play on the weekends. Sure the training hours may be longer but when you enjoy what you are doing it hardly seems like training. If ever I reach a place where I cannot slow enough to enjoy life, my friends, and dinner with my family than changes will be made. For now I feel like I have a good balance.
Saturday Cycle Event Re-cap
COLD start in the middle 30’s! At the last minute I dashed back home to grab my head band to cover my ears. Smart choice. Why did I not put on my shoe covers at the same time?… not a smart choice. My feet were FROZEN by mile 25.
The pack stayed together for the first 8-10 miles and then separated into three groups. I settled in with a group of 5 and we set out to tackle the miles and miles on long rolling hills, one wooden bridge, and a few somewhat (un)friendly dogs along the way. By mile 33 I was having an issue with a “tender spot” that a seam in my pants were creating. At this sag stop I went in the bathroom to assess the area and found that it was on the verge of being a BIG problem. After total disgust I opted to rack my bike and jump in the sag vehicle. Although I was not pleased by this I will tell you that my feet were thrilled to be thawing out. Another gentleman joined me and we road in the car for the next 10 miles. At the next sag stop we both decided that we would suck it up and rejoin the group. The pain was there and I would likely regret what I was doing to the “tender spot” later but my heart wanted to finish with this group and so that is just what I did. 45 miles and the ride was complete.
We had such a great time that we are doing a repeat of it this coming Saturday. No bailing this time. The pants will not be worn again so the seam should not be an issue.
Last night I joined Cheri in a run. I cannot remember the last time we have ran roads together. We are trail girls at heart. We set out for a 4 miler and made the time count. We finished with an 8:40 pace. She made me work for it and cut my tired legs no slack!! Thanks Cheri. She has set goals this year and after running with her last night I can clearly see this girl is on a mission. Next time we will have to try and get Susan to join in on the sweat party.
Tonight is the Spinners Tuesday night ride. Scott and I are moving up to the next pace group as planned. I will likely be dropped but I have set an overall goal and want this workout to count. Should be interesting!
Happy Tuesday!
Robin

Will you run with me next week??? I am looking outside at how gorgeous it is...and I cannot run for 4 more days!!
Hugs!
Susan
Great job on the ride. Have fun moving up to the next pace group. I am sure you'll be able to hang. Keep having fun!
WTG on the long ride and greaty run too. I hope the 'tender spot' is okay - owwie.
I hit up a spin class last night (for the first time in months) and it was so busy that I got stuck wit one of the bikes with a hard seat. I am *really* hurting 'down there' this morning. Sorry for the TMI!
Oy, sorry about the seam chafing. I've had that. :( Great job on the ride though!
Nice job!
Hope your spot is healing up!
Sounds like a couple of really good workouts. Great job!
I hate it when stuff rubs me the wrong way!! Nice ride!! I still think that Jaggad removable chamois is good for other outfits. I plan on using mine all the time :-) I got assets to protect...
Great job with the ride, despite the seam problems. Sounds like those tights should be banned from riding gear! :)
Ouch! You probably made the right choice, glad it didn't have time to get worse! Balance is good... sounds like you've got it right :)
Seam problems-pull air!
45 miles down! Your doing great, keep pedaling!
Seam problems suck as does riding in mid-30's w/o full booties or at least toe warmers -- Yikes!
Hope the tender spot heals up quick. Sometimes I get those and don't even realize until too late (i.e. after the ride) because I'm just having too much fun :-)
Great job on the ride and run. Ouch! Chafing hurts!
As tough as running is, I just don't know how you guy can sit on this saddle for all this time. I would die!
Nice job in getting back in the saddle and finishing the ride.
Hopefully the foot is okay.
I think we will always yearn to run the trails. I know I do.
I missed running with you. You have gotten soooo much stronger!!! Let's hit the trails ASAP.
Cheri
