Roads Unknown to Us

Just the other day I was driving home and realized I was smiling. For no reason. Completely happy. Carefree. Relaxed.

Friday we found out that Scott’s 6 month contract job ends this Friday making it more like two months. That is the way it goes with contract work.

So with this news we do what comes naturally… get a new game plan. Lean on each other. Move forward.

Rather than join the team on Saturday for our planned charity ride I stayed with my husband. We spent the morning just being relaxed and not rushed. Enjoyed nice long cups of coffee. Played with the dog. Watched some shows.

Then just like normal we geared up and rolled out of the house for a ride. We decided to just make turns. Take the roads unknown to us. It was a perfect yet strangely weird ride. We would drift in and out of it. Sometimes putting the hammer down for long stretches and other times just coasting along taking in the warm sun.

On Sunday I had a scheduled long run. Just 60 minutes. My goal was to try my best and stay in the prescribed zones. High zone 3 to low zone 4. This task is not so easy for me. I often start out smart and then find myself pushing..and pushing until at last I am at my max. For the most part I nailed this but I will admit my heart was just not in it. The last mile was the hardest. I just wanted to be home. So I gave my last mile to my mom. Today is her birthday and having lost her more than 5 years ago it just seemed like the perfect gift.

So just like everything in life you must keep moving forward. That is what we are doing.

Robin

We will be looking for the next door to open for you guys, and I hope it is a road less traveled :-) Won't that be exciting!

That is a wonderful picture Robin. You both look so happy and healthy.

You have some powerful mojo working for you in your life. Perhaps you two should try being a motivational speakers.

A little of your "special sauce" could benefit a lot of people. Being a great couple takes more than luck, it takes specific skills, and the will to move forward to a better, more rewarding place.

There's something about smiling for no reason... it's a great feeling, that's for sure!
