Over-Looked Warning =MAD DASH

All week our family has battled some kind of sore, sour stomach bug thing. I have been less interested in eating and as a result some of my workouts have been less than stellar.

On tap yesterday –

Swim and Run

For a few reasons I chose to run first. I arrived home and quickly made my change into my running clothes.

Mile 1 – 9:26 nice warm up pace

Mile 2 – 9:02 legs begin to open up and feel good

Mile 3 – 9:00 time to pick up the pace a bit

Mile 4 – 8:34 my stomach gave me a warning at this point to head home but ignored it

Mile 5 – 8:40 stopped for a second to evaluate my stomach pains and ignored the warning again

Mile 6 – 8:28 decision time – walking would take too long so I would sprint as hard as you can to get home. This took major focus!

Mile 7 – 8:13 PLEASE let the door be unlocked!!! I all but crushed my dog greeting me at the door as I dashed for the bathroom

After I "gathered myself" I changed clothes to head to the pool. Drove to the Y, parked the car, walked into the pool….. then LEFT to head back home. Stupid stomach!

So this morning I am fine. I feel fine. Now I am processing my missed swim session. I know we cannot always nail every workout but I do hate it when I miss one. I am also a believer that I do not need to try and play catch-up. I am smart enough to know I have a full plate of training still remaining this week. I may have made a stupid call on my “warning signs” during the run yesterday but this girl does have a little bit of smarts about her.

Oh yuck, no fun on the stomach bug! No fun at all. Glad you are feeling better. That one missed workout won't do a thing to your training but trying to cram it in could do damage - you are a wise woman!

Yikes! Nothing worse than having to consider heading for the bushes....

Hope you're feeling better today and you can enjoy your weekend of training.

Ugh! Sounds awful and I do know this feeling way too well. One of the worst that can happen on a run. I hope you are feeling better now.

Yikes! Lesson learned I guess. You know my thoughts on makeup workouts. Just keep moving forward and roll with the punches.

Glad you feel better! And really glad you didn't need another 2 minutes to finish that run (I know the feeling). We're dealing with a sore throat / exhaustion bug around our house (and where I work).
