Reaching New Numbers

What a week! I could just about write a book about the great ups and downs of last week. Instead, here is the short version….

Notable Highlights from this past week -

· I hit my largest training hours thus far - SWIM 2 hours, BIKE 8 hours, and RUN 3hr 50 min – TOTAL 13hr 50 min

· My long run on Thursday was by far the hardest mentally from the week. I bonked the last 2 miles…but I know that having pushed through it was a total victory.

· Saturday I headed out with a friend for some true road time. Having spent SO MUCH time on the trainer lately (solid workouts!) I NEEDED to have some real practice time in my bars on the actual road. Since I was a bit nervous about the bars I headed out with a friend who is also training for an Ironman as well. We wasted no time at stop signs or store stops. We stayed focused on the ride and was such a nice match in pace and ability as we tackled the miles. In the end I have no clue why the bars seemed to scare me. I LOVE THEM! Result – 60 miles, NO DRAFTING, 90% in bars, 17.5mph avg. Felt FANTASTIC!!!!

Over the weekend I also signed up for my Half Iron that will take place on June 4th in Macon, Ga. I chose this race event because it will mirror the course and heat that the IMKY will have in August. Looking very forward to seeing what I can do at this event.

On to a new week......

Way to push through the long run - yes, those miles where we feel we have nothing left are the ones that make us stronger!

Awesome on the bike ride!!

Nice - I have heard good things about that race! It most definitely will be a hot one. I was thinking about that as my first half iron before I settled on Augusta. Have a good time!
